So, Ms. Palmer, are you in the new Mad Max, as was widely reported and initially revealed by your The Sorcerer’s Apprentice co-star Jay Baruchel in an apparent slip of the lip?

“I may or may not be!”

Well, that settles it. You are. Actually, it’s your face that settles it, but let’s not get caught up in the details. Look, I didn’t make a living as a poker player cause I can’t read people’s body language.

“It’s just a rumor, I can’t talk about it. I’ve been told not to,” Palmer added with a huge smile. Told not to talk by whom, one might ask. Mad Max creator George Miller?

“[But] It WOULD be pretty cool. Pretty damn cool. I WOULD be psyched.”

Walt Disney has announced their WonderCon 2010 lineup and it’s going to focus on their summer 2010 movies. According to the press release Disney sent over, they’ll be pushing Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Toy Story 3, and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. And while you might think they’ll just show some footage and the presentation will be short, they’re treating this like Comic-Con and bringing along some big names like Jake Gyllenhaal, Jordan Mechner, Nicolas Cage, Jay Baruchel, Teresa Palmer – plus Filmmakers Jerry Bruckheimer, Mike Newell, Jon Turteltaub and Lee Unkrich. If you’re going to WonderCon in San Francisco, it sounds like you’ll see some cool stuff.

Just over a week ago word leaked out that Teresa Palmer might be in George Miller’s upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road. That wasn’t a huge surprise, as Miller had cast Palmer as Talia Ghul in his aborted Justice League movie. Now we’ve got confirmation that Palmer is in fact part of the Mad Max cast, along with another rumored actor, Nicholas Hoult. Zoe Kravitz and Adelaide Clemens also just joined the actioner.

The movie is set a short while after the story detailed in 1985′s Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, which keeps Mad Max, the character originated by Mel Gibson, relatively young.

Details are being kept quiet, but it is known that Hoult’s character is named Nux. Kravitz, whose character’s name is Five Wives, Palmer and Clemens are in a convoy being chased by bad guys.

Then there is the comment made by Jay Baruchel when he leaked Palmer’s involvement. He said that Palmer would be playing “the main chick” in the film. That could leave Theron as a villain (shades of Tina Turner’s Beyond Thunderdome character) or he could simply be hopeful about her prominence in the script. Theron could also have dropped out; we’ll let you know as soon as any of those possibilities is confirmed.

Details from Slashfilm and The Hollywood Reporter.

Teresa Palmer is to play a leading role in George Miller’s hugely anticipated fourth Mad Max film Fury Road after her co-star in The Sorcerer’s Apprentice spilt the beans in Los Angeles.

Palmer’s Sydney agency Shanahan’s would not comment on the casting yesterday, nor would production house Kennedy Miller.

But actor Jay Baruchel told reporters interviewing him for the new Dreamworks film How To Train Your Dragon that Palmer, who splits her time between Australia and Hollywood, was preparing for a gruelling shoot on the new Mad Max episode.

“She gets to work with him, and she’s (going to be) doing Mad Max 4 with Miller,” Baruchel said.

The actor, who counts Palmer as a very good friend after working with her on the Sorcerer film, said he didn’t know the character’s exact name, but believed it was the female lead.

“She’s the main chick in Fury Road,” he said.
