Hollywood starlet Teresa Palmer wants to run her own animal shelter and is obsessed with having babies.
The Adelaide star of December Boys and Adam Sandler’s Bedtime Stories has revealed she often surfs the web for advice on motherhood and once read a 670-page “how-to” book on raising a child.
And she confessed that she has a habit of throwing “out of control” parties in abandoned houses.
“I am a serious freak about this.
“I have always been maternal. I just can’t wait to be a mum and love to picture a house full of kids on Christmas morning.
“If I have a couple of hours free, I will surf the Bub Hub website for Aussie parents.
“In 2007 I even read How to Bring Up Your Child From 0-5 Years Old. It was 670 pages long.”
In the Facebook outpouring, Palmer hinted Australia will be the base for a movie she plans to direct and produce. “I am so scared and excited and have become totally engrossed in it all,” she wrote. “We are planning to shoot it in Australia next year and I can’t wait for the challenge.”
Palmer said her mother was the most important person in her life and her sister was her inspiration.
“She’s my everything,” Palmer wrote of her mum. “For anyone who knows her she is a really special person, warm and selfless – a true living saint and I feel so proud to call her my mum.”
She also gushed about actor boyfriend Topher Grace – he was “everything I could ask for”.
“He’s the most genuine person I know – giving and kind, talented and smart, loving and honest,” she wrote. Several entries related to Palmer’s many pets – most saved from the pound – and her hopes one day to start a “no-kill” animal shelter.
“Sophie was a little kitten who we found in the scorching Adelaide heat,” Palmer wrote about one pet.
“She was thirsty and after we gave her some water she stayed over and never left.
“As you can probably tell, I’m obsessed with animals. I hope to one day open up my own no-kill animal shelter in SA.
“I’ve written out my business plan and know that one day I will get this up and running.
“Dogs are just so sweet. Some of my favourite days are spent on the beach with my pups at Semaphore or at the dog park in LA. I’ll take slobber and stench any day.”
Palmer also said she has kept a journal for the past six years and spent an entire year writing it in “hardcore” graffiti handwriting – and she confessed she often speaks in a weird voice.
“I have a habit of having parties that somehow get out of control and they usually take place in abandoned houses,” she wrote.
Palmer ends the confessional with a message to all her friends: “I feel so blessed to have people in my life like you who’d be willing to read about a nuffy like me!”
